Job Title: Chapter Program Manager, Transportation Choices 2020 Campaign (Initial six month duration with extension dependent on funding)
Chapter: Rhode Island Chapter
Reports To: Chapter Chair
Context: Organizes and implements Transportation Choices 2020 program according to priorities set by the Executive Committee, including administrative and legislative advocacy.
Scope: The Program Manager has overall program management responsibility, and assigns priorities and timetables, plans and develops strategies, evaluates campaign/program effectiveness. She/he advocates the Sierra Club position on proposed legislation involving conservation programs; represents the Sierra Club to government officials, transportation industry representatives and other business leaders, the media and coalition partners. The Program Manager: is responsible for ensuring that the Chapters approved conservation program objectives are implemented; participates in the development of program strategies; works closely with volunteers leaders on conservation campaigns; recruits and motivates volunteers and enables their role in the effectiveness of the chapter; coordinates and facilitates grassroots involvement in the Transportation Choices campaign.
Knowledge & Skills:
-- BA/BS degree in Environmental Studies, Political Science or a closely related field.
-- 2-3 years experience in the environmental field that includes research and organizing campaigns, press relations and public speaking.
-- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-- Proficient computer skills
-- Demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with volunteers.
