A groundswell of Rhode Islanders demanding more transit service has pushed our leaders to introduce plans and ideas. Now it's time to turn those ideas into reality!Leading members of the General Assembly are paying attention. Rhode Islanders have the power to ensure that our tax dollars are invested in growing our public transit system. Help us build our network of bus and train riders in the Ocean State and demand that our decision makers invest in our future with public transit. Our public transit system saves 1 million gallons of oil every year, worth over $2.5 million, and which avoids 4,874 metric tones of global warming pollution. RIPTA's funding source is backwards and actually shrinks as more people choose to ride the bus. We need a sustainable, long-term funding source for RIPTA that grows with demand. So enlist in our effort to grow the list of transportation choices in Rhode Island: |
